Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
What is EMDR? EMDR is a treatment that involves recalling the specific details of past events (often trauma experiences) that relate to the cause of present-day symptoms while making eye movements, similar to rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, which take place as we dream.
Focusing directly on memory, EMDR therapy is intended to change the way the memory is stored in the brain, using a structured approach of a series of sessions until symptoms have decreased.

Your Therapist: Will be impartial but understanding. They will listen to you without judgment and guide you through the specific eight phases contained in EMDR treatment. They may offer information, but they won’t tell you what you should think or do.
They will help you by initially describing EMDR in more depth, such as talking about how your past has shaped your present, treatment planning agreeing your goals and how many sessions you may need. Your therapist will also explain why you’re experiencing your current symptoms, and how trauma affects the mind.
How often?: Sometimes six sessions of EMDR therapy can make a significant difference, although clients with more complex issues may require more. All sessions typically last 50 mins.
Where?: EMDR can be offered either in person (face to face) or remotely (video)
Prices: £75 (Price per hour within Working Hours) - £85 (Price per hour Out of Working Hours)
