Therapy Stages

  • In your assessment your assessor will talk to you about your needs and discuss potential treatment options. You will then be able to agree what is the most important and timely focus of treatment. It is best to focus upon one thing at a time, where possible.

  • To make sure you are able to receive the best outcomes from your treatment, your clinician will review with you if the focus of treatment agreed at assessment is still required and your clinician will discuss what to expect in the first 6 sessions.

  • In addition to the ongoing review within each session, this step allows for you to review how your treatment has progressed and ensure you are getting what you need from treatment. We respect that treatment needs to reflect the needs of each individual, so this is also an opportunity to discuss if additional sessions (up to 6) are required. Alternatively, you and your clinician may feel that the there is only a need a couple of sessions more.

  • By session 12, your clinician will have worked with you to develop a way for you to keep moving forward with the desired changes, once the sessions have ended. This can include sign posting to other specialist services or support groups.

However, if after all of the available subsidized sessions (12 in total) or before this, it is felt that additional or alternative treatment is required the following options are available:

Your treatment to date can be reviewed by a senior clinician to explore if any other treatments available in our private division may be appropriate and you can discuss with your clinician what this would look like.

Useful Information & Considerations Before and After Treatment

Achieving the Best Outcomes: Where possible choose one focus of treatment or problem to work on at a time

If its not for you: You are not obliged to complete a course of treatment if you feel it is not for you, however initial assessment costs still apply.

Taking a break: We advise that you do not engage in more than one type of treatment at a time and also leave a space between treatments, where possible, to enable for consolidation of the work you have undertaken.

Accessing Our Subsidised Services: You can only access one course of subsidised treatment (up to 12 sessions) through our service. We do this to make sure we can help as many people as possible in our community. If a new problem occurs, we are able to re-asses your needs and discuss the need for additional treatment at a later date.

Confidentiality: Everything you share with us is kept private, unless there’s a risk of harm to yourself or others.

If You’re in Crisis: If you’re experiencing an immediate crisis (e.g., thoughts of self-harm or harm to others), we’ll help you get the urgent support you need, which may include referring you to emergency services or specialised care.

Your Feedback Matters: We value your feedback to help us improve our services. After your sessions, you may be asked to fill out a short survey.
